About me,
As a freelance software engineer with a background in biomedical engineering, I have a strong foundation in programming and have focused on supporting researchers in their efforts to understand the world.
I hold a Master's degree in Embedded System Engineering from ESISAR Grenoble INP, where I specialized in Automation, Electronics, and Programming.
I received the "Student of the Year" award from EDF in 2015 while working as an apprentice at Groupe PSA, a leading European car manufacturer, as a member of the Research & Innovation team. There, I was involved in the design and programming of a robotic platform for the validation of embedded algorithms for autonomous vehicles. My skills in C/C++ and Matlab/Simulink, as well as my strong understanding of the state of the art in autonomous vehicles, have been instrumental in this work.
After completing my studies, I spent a year working for a consulting company in the United States, which was an eye-opening experience that helped me to clarify my goals and priorities. I realized that I wanted to work on projects that aligned with my values and interests and that had the potential to make a positive impact in the world. As a result, I decided to reconvert to a biomedical engineer and took classes as a free auditor in Belgium.
I have gained valuable experience in the field of software engineering through my work with the Kloosterman lab in Belgium, where I had the opportunity to collaborate with researchers and contribute to open-source projects. For example, I was the main maintainer and contributor to the development of Falcon, a software platform that aimed to enable short-latency closed-loop feedback in experiments that tried to causally link neural activity to behavior. In addition to my work on Falcon, I also contributed to the improvement of the research pipeline from experimentation to publication and provided teaching and programming support in python and C++ for a team of 15 people.
I also maintained and improved new tools by working on code quality, refactoring, testing, and release automation processes.
Currently, I am working as a freelancer for research labs and early startups since April 2023. I am excited to continue applying my skills and experiences to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the field.
